P90x: Day 21 – The Turkey fest is over
Another day of rest, I tried fitting in a workout since I missed a couple last week because of Thanksgiving, but I just could not find the time, November was a very busy month it had a lot of birthdays and a major holiday. Not much to talk about today though, except that I start week four tomorrow and I am pretty sure it is a recovery week. So I will be starting of stretching and getting in awkward positions with P90x Yoga. Yoga has got to be one of the strangest things in the world. I always find myself in awe of the people who can do it well, because I look like a fool. But hopefully over time and doing the P90x workout routine, I will find myself more flexible and able to put my leg over the top of my head while rubbing my tummy and patting my head at the same time. There are just some things that I am not sure if I will every be good at, word games, spelling, balancing on my right leg and Yoga! I guess we will see how it goes tomorrow, I get to do Yoga twice this week, so I better be able to stretch further than I ever had in my life after this week.
P90x: Day 20 – Back to Kenpo
I know what you are wondering, what happened to P90x day 18 and 19, well there was a big holiday this last week and I was visiting my parents at their home for the past couple days, but I got up today and got right back on track with P90x Kenpo X. I think I might try to fit in the P90x legs and back workout tomorrow. I am not exactly sure when, it will definitely have to be later on in the evening, because I have my dads birthday tomorrow. So overall in the first three weeks of my P90x workout, I have missed three days. Now remember I have three and half months to finish this thing and do it right, so after tomorrow, it is all business until Christmas and New Years, where I will probably miss a couple more days. But I will win this bet. So far I have lost 3 pounds, and I haven’t exactly been following the nutrition plan the last few days, but I am going to fix that too. I have noticed that I have more muscle, and more energy throughout the day. This next week is kind of a recovery week, so I will be doing a couple rounds of P90x yoga, P90x cardio, and P90x stretch x. This week I plan on getting outside a couple times and going for a jog, not too much, I will probably only run a couple miles, just so I can get more cardio in and get my heart rate up and maybe I will start shredding pounds faster. Well I have marked off 20 days on my P90x calendar, so that means I only have 70 more days left!
P90x: Day 17 – The Gun show workout
So I got done with the 17th day of P90x fitness routine, I did the third round of p90x shoulders and arms. At this time I really do not have a lot to say about the workout, but I really enjoyed it. I try every time to push myself more and more, and I believe I did that today, by doing more reps and by using the green band more than the red band. The only thing I should be doing better is sticking to the nutrition plan more than I am, I am not doing terrible but I am not doing the best I can either, and that is mostly because it is the holidays. After Thanksgiving I will be able to get back on track with my eating, I have lost a few pounds, so that is a plus. I also saw my sister yesterday, and she did comment on how well I am looking, so that was a huge plus. It is always good to hear from people that they can see a difference on your body, whether is is losing weight or getting more toned and defined. Tonight is the big night, I have my preemptive thanksgiving dinner with my roommates and I am deep frying a turkey, if that is not healthy I do not know what its. And tomorrow is the bigger day with Thanksgiving with my family. So happy thanksgiving to all.
P90x: Day 16 – Plyoooo
So I did P90x plyometrics today, and I swear somebody must of turned up the heat in the house, because I was sweating like crazy. Even into the warm ups I was sweating, then after every workout I had to dry my face with a towel, usually I do not sweat that much, but today i did. I had a great workout today, I was getting deeper in my lunges and squats, higher in my jumps, and I stuck with the P90x workout crew for the whole time, even though my hamstrings and calves were burning. Besides P90x Yoga, I feel that I have a harder time getting motivated for the P90x plyometrics routine, and that is probably because it is a very difficult workout, but even though I have to kick myself in the butt to get me going, I am always enjoying it by the end. Just getting started is the hard part. Well I have 74 more days to go, and I still do not want to lose this bet, so I am going to do my best everyday. My family is getting in town today, so I am really excited for that, my sister usually says something to me about how I am looking, so I hope she notices a difference since the last time she saw me.
P90x: Day 15 – Push ups and Pull ups
Already on day 15, wow it has been going surprisingly fast. Today marks the day of the beginning of week three in my P90x routine. I am very excited to get to this point, because last year I tried doing P90x I got only through two weeks of it, because I got lazy, but I was also 40 pounds heavier at that point of my life. The last year has been quite a journey with my weight, I have made some great accomplishments and I think making those goals earlier on in the year is going to help me achieve finishing the P90x program I am doing right now. So today I did the third round of P90x chest and back. I want to keep on pushing myself so today I decided to add the push up stands, and boy did it make a difference. After the workout today I could barely lift my arms, and that is a great thing. Putting those P90x push up stands in my workout really added a whole new element to the routine. it made me push harder, I did less rep, but I had to work harder in maximizing my reps. I also got to fully go at the pull ups again, because my latissimus dorsi muscle felt a lot better today, it did not hurt at all doing the pull ups. I still use the chair to support me in my chin ups. I try to do as many as I can without it, but if I want to get more reps in I use the chair to help me. Today, was a good day of working out, and now that I started using the push up stands I have to keep on using them, I cannot go backwards in my routines.
P90x: Day 14 – Thank God for the Sabbath
Well today is my day of rest from the P90x routine. And what a packed day it was. First of all I had church this morning, then I had my first thanksgiving party with all my friends, where we had three turkeys, tons of mashed potatoes, pies, stuffing, dressing, casserole, fruit salad, there was just tons of food. It was a fun party though and a good learning experience. It was my first time deep frying a turkey, I got a little anxious and pulled the turkey out a little to early, so I had to finish it in the oven, but it still turned out so good. I placed the turkey in a brine for 12 hours so it came out moist and very flavorful. I am going to do another one on Wednesday, and I will not make the same mistake again. Then after the Party I had to go back to the church for another Thanksgiving night service. Pretty much the whole day was just crammed from morning to night. But it was a good day of rest, obviously I did not keep to the P90x nutrition plan today but it is the holidays, as long I keep on working out and pushing myself more and more a few days of turkey bliss is not going to hurt. Tomorrow I start the 3rd week of my P90x routine.
P90x: Day 13 – Fists of Fury
It has been a tough couple weeks but I got through them, I do not think I realized how hard it was going to be to remain on a schedule. I only have one more week before P90x throws in a twist to my workout routine. I am excited to do some of the other workouts. I only have 10 more weeks to go, and I keep on getting compliments about how I look more defined, and that has been great. I did P90x Kenpo X today, it is always interesting when I workout on Saturday, because my roommates do not go to work, so they sit around the house and watch me workout, it is pretty weird but we have fun with it, cracking jokes during the workout. Tomorrow I have my first of three thanksgiving dinners, I am deep frying a turkey tomorrow, so I am really excited, do not worry i know what I am doing, I will not burn down the house. So tomorrow I will have a day of rest, and I will enjoy that day for my body to recover. Monday i will hit up the P90x chest and backworkout routine again. Hopefully my arm will feel better before Monday, so I can go at the pull up with all my might.
P90x: Day 12 – Oh my Legs!
Alright, so I missed yesterday’s P90x Yoga, but I picked it right back up today with P90x Legs and Back. It was a good workout today, I did more reps with the Tony Horton crew and those darn wall squats just really get to me. Especially when you do the single leg wall squats, it is just nuts. I did take it a little easy on the pull ups because the latissimus dorsi muscle on my left side is hurting. And no I did not make that muscle up, I googled it. I also have some great news, I had a friend yesterday tell me that I look like I have been losing weight and that my arms are looking bigger. The great thing about it is that she had no idea that I was even doing the P90x workout routine. So that was very encouraging that other people are noticing a difference. Alright, tomorrow I will be doing P90x Kenpo X and after that I will be watching the Apple Cup, Washington Huskies vs. the Washington St. Cougars, in what will be the match to decide who is the worst football team in college. GO HUSKIES!!
P90x: Day 11 – Missed a day
Okay, so I am a complete idiot, I totally did not wake up today in time to do P90x Yoga before I had to start working. So I am going to have to do it tonight, or maybe I will go on a run instead, I need to do something. I don’t even know what happened. There was a storm last night, and the winds were blowing pretty hard, so I dreamt that the power went out and I couldn’t do the workout. I woke up and it was 10:30, I couldn’t believe it!! But I will continue on with the P90x routine!!
P90x: Day 10 – Arms and Shoulders
Well, P90x day ten is done and over with. I officially only have 80 more days. That sounds like a lot of days!! Pretty much I am not even close to finishing the P90x program yet, one day at a time though. So far I have not missed a day, which is great, it would be terrible for me to miss a day in the first couple weeks, because the holidays are coming and I have to get as many workouts in as possible before Thanksgiving and Christmas take over. Today I did P90x shoulders and arms, and I did pretty well today. I upped my weight in a lot of the workouts, instead of using the red band I used the green band as much as possible. It is amazing how much those p90x resistance bands workout your muscles, especially when you raise the resistance level. This was my second round with this workout, the workout is great because it works out your arms and who doesn’t want good looking defined arms. This is also a great workout for your shoulders, and I feel that the resistance bands work great for your shoulders. I used to go to the gym with a buddy and we would do a lot of free weights and machines. I actually ended up injuring my left shoulder, doing a shoulder press, mainly because I was straining my self to get up the last rep. The resistance bands help me with a smooth action, so there is not a lot of strain on my shoulders.
Oh yeah and I always forget to mention this, but I did p90x ab ripper x again. I did a good job with it today to, this is still probably one of the most, if not the most challenging workout they have for me. My abs (core) suck. But today I probably did the most reps I have yet. I don’t know about you, but some of the moves hurt my tailbone. I know I talk about a lot of injuries but when I played football I injured my tailbone, some bigger guy knock me on my ass about 5 yards back. So since my tailbone hurts a lot when I do the ab ripper, I usually put a pillow under my butt, I find that it helps, it does not take away all the pain, but it makes it bearable. I am sure Tony Horton will be fine with that. Alright my favorite workout is tomorrow P90x Yoga!!! I was kidding, I really do not like Yoga, but I will do it anyway.
