P90x: Day 9 – Jump Training
So today I did the second round of P90x plyometrics. First of all I have to say, I went to my friends house last night and we watched Hot Rod, I absolutely love that movie. Well, I accidentally left my cell phone over there. My cell phone is also my alarm clark, I usually get up around 9 am to do these workouts, but since I was out late last night until 1:30 am I kind of over slept, I had a hard time waking up but I still got the p90x workout in. As far as the workout goes, I still love this workout. It hurts and burns your legs and makes you sweat like crazy but after you are done you feel great. I feel like I am starting to burn more fat, probably because I am gaining muscle. I know I am not posting pictures, mostly because I think it is just weird to post pictures of myself with my shirt off, I am just not comfortable with it, but I am starting to notice some change in my body, so I am excited for that. I am pretty sure I mentioned this in my last post about the p90x plyometrics workout but i absolutely love the end of this workout, it is just a nice change to the workout, getting to do sport moves. The reason I probably like it so much is because they are the only workout moves that feel natural to me, all the other moves I am trying to kepp the right form, but with the sport moves at the end, I do not have to think about technique. Well, day 9 is out of the way, I only have 81 days left before i am done with the P90x challenge. Tomorrow I will be 1/9th of the way through.
P90x: Day 8 – Chest and Back
Alright, so I made it through week one, and I felt pretty good, now I really want to go at it this week. So today I did P90x chest and back, for the second time around. I really wanted to push myself, because I want to see results. I think I did a pretty good job at that today because on the last workout, when I was doing Divebomers I got to a point where my arms just couldn’t do any more. I have noticed that I am getting stronger, I did more reps this time around and I am already starting to see a change in the definition of my arms. I did have to take it easy on the pull ups this time around, I felt a pull right under my arm pit that did not feel so good. So instead of just doing stright on pulls up I used a chair to spot myself, so I could avoid injury. The P90x fitness program has really been challenging me, not just physically but mentally too. I still have 11 weeks to go, so I am excited to see what is going to happen, and what kind of progress I am going to make. Today I strat back up on my diet, to make sure that I am maximizing the P90x workout to its extreme. I really want to lose this excess fat and get ripped as Tony Horton would say it. Tomorrow is another round of plyometrics. It is going to be a doozey, but I do not want to shave my legs for a month so I got to keep on going, like that stupid energizer bunny, it keeps going and going and going. Alright Peace!
P90x: Day 7 – Day of Rest
So today was the 7th day of my P90x workout routine, and that means I get to rest!! It was a good day, I went to a friends wedding where I got to play the guitar for a special communion song and then after that I went to a Seattle Seahawk’s games, where I sat in club seats. I was a lot of fun, even though we lost to the Cardinals. After I went to the game, I went to go see the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. I liked it, it tied in from the first new James bond. I didn’t not keep to my diet today, I kind of figured if I am going to a game, there is just no way I am getting past stadium food. But tomorrow I start back up on the diet and the second week of P90x. I get to do Px90 chest and back again tomorrow, and I am going to make sure that my arms feel like jello after this workout.
P90x: Day 6 – Kenpo X
So I got through the first week of P90x!! Today I got to do P90x Kenpo X, I had a hard time getting up this morning, mostly because it is a Saturday. My body feels good though, my legs were tight from the P90x legs and back workout yesterday, but before you start Kenpo X you do a lot of leg stretches. This was a fun workout, I got to do a lot of punches and kicks, and it is amazing how much your heart rate goes up during this workout. This workout kind of reminds me of shadow boxing a little bit. You are pretty much fighting no one the whole time. But I like fighting, I am a big Mix Martial Arts fan, I love watching the UFC, Pride, and the WEC. I do not ever fight, I have never even taken classes, but it is fun doing some moves that you see in a fight, so it makes it exciting. I am excited for my day of rest tomorrow, I feel like my body will be ready to go by monday to start doing P90x chest and back again. This next week I am really going to start challenging myself to go at at harder, now that I have the feel for everything. I really want to see results out of this P90x workout system, and I believe that I can achieve results if I go at it with all i got.
P90x: Day 5 – Legs and Back
I woke up feeling pretty good today, my muscles felt good and I seemed to have quite a bit of energy. Which was good because today I really wanted to go all out with the P90x Legs and Back workout. I love being able to workout my legs and strengthen the muscles around my knees, because about a few years ago I had surgery on my right knee. I tore my PCL, strained my ACL and I tore my Menisci, it was not fun at all, but I took really good care of my knee, I didn’t screw around with my physical therapy and my knee is pretty much back to normal. I even went on a 17 mile hike with about 40 pounds on my back a couple months ago, and my knee felt great, the blisters didn’t, but the knees did just fine. Anyway back to the P90x fitness program, I really enjoyed this workout. You get to do a whole bunch of lunges in all different type of positions, and it is mixed with back workouts to, so you are also doing quite a bit of pull ups. I think my favorite workout was the calf raises, you start of going slow and then you go fast, it burns like crazy. My least favorite was probably the wall squats. Mostly because you sit against a wall like you are sitting on a chair, but the chair is not there. It is amazing how much it burns, and how much you have to battle your mind. My mind is probably the toughest thing to deal with in all these workouts. It is constantly telling me to stop, but I have to will myself past it and keep on going. I also need to start eating better, I probably chose a terrible time to start this workout, right in the holiday season, my sister’s birthday was today, so we went out and ate italian food, cake and Ice cream. So besides the holidays that are coming up, I am really going to get strict with what I eat. I do not want all this working out to be for nothing. Alright P90x Kempo X is tomorrow.
P90x: Day 4 – Yoga X
So today I got to enjoy a little exercise called P90x Yoga. I really thought that this was going to be an easier disc than all the rest of the P90x workouts. I thought how hard can stretching be? Little did I know that Yoga is extremely hard, especially if you are not used to stretching or having to balance. I did not realize how much strength and mental toughness it takes to do Yoga. Now I am definitely not big on all the weird stuff behind Yoga, but I can see why a lot of people do it as a workout. At first I was not sure why P90x would include yoga in the workouts, but after doing an hour and a half of it, I can see why now. This P90x session was not only hard because of I wasn’t used to it, but also because some of the moves I can never imagine myself doing. I am really going to try my hardest with this exercise, because this if there is one area I really need improvement in, it is my flexibility. The one thing I really enjoyed about this workout was that at the end, you just get to lay down on the ground and do nothing, I never thought laying down on the ground could feel so go. Tomorrow is P90x Legs and Back, so I am pretty excited for that.
P90x: Day 3 – Shoulders and Arms
Well I am half way through week one of my P90x experience!! My body is definintly feeling the affects of the workouts. Today I got to do P90x Shoulders and Arms, it was a really good workout, but I kind of took it maybe a little easy, just to get the feel for it. The next time I do it, I want my arms to feel like they are going to fall off. I got to use the P90x resistance bands a lot in this workout, I even switched from time to time from bands to dumbells. I find with some of the workouts its more natural feeling to use dumbells. Overall, this P90x workout really does a great job in working out all the different muscles in your arms. It even does a great job in working out your shoulders. I forgot to mention this on day 1 but I also did P90x Ab Ripper x, I got to be honest with you, the first day I did this, I really didn’t like it that much, I found it difficult to do some of the moves, and that is probably because my abs suck. But when I was doing the ab ripper today, I really did feel the burn in my abs, it seriously hurt really bad, in a good way. But I am done with day four, I started using the recovery drink today, and it was really good, I hope it works.
P90x: Day 2 – Plyometrics
Well I woke up today at 9:00 to do the P90x Plyometrics routine. Let me say this first, I noticed that my body was very sore from the P90x chest and back routine that I did yesterday, and I am still sore. Now I am not complaining i actually am glad that I am sore, to me that means that I did a good workout and my body was challenged. After doing plyometrics today I have a feeling that my legs and butt are going to be sore tomorrow. P90x plyometrics is an incredible workout, from the warm ups all the way to the end you are doing squats and lunges, and constently jumping up in the air. My favorite part of the whole routine was the last 10 minutes, that is when you get to do a whole bunch of sport moves , it’s fun, exciting and it brings a new fresh element to the session. Overall I really enjoyed it, I had a hard time keeping up at some points, mostly because I felt exhausted from yesterday. Only 88 more days to go!!!
P90x: Day 1 – The Beginning!!
Well, today was the big day. I finally started the P90x workout routine. I started the day with P90x chest and back, and let me tell you, I had a really hard time doing it. P90x really pushed me beyond my limits, and I am not in bad shape. It is definitely a different type of workout, I pretty much did a whole bunch of different types of push ups and pull ups for a whole hour with a couple of workouts that involved resistance bands and dumbbells. I am excited to see the progress that I will be making through out this P90x process. oh and by the way, my friends don’t think I can stay motivated enough to stick with the P90x challenge for 90 days, so to give myself a little bit of motivation, if I do not achieve my goal with P90x I have to shave my legs for a whole month, and I really do not want to do that.
