P90x: Upper Body and Plyo

I did P90x Chest, Shoulders and Triceps today and this really is a good workout, I know I say that a lot but it’s true, and I am kind of running out of things to say about the workouts.  I am not really the greatest writer in the world so my posts probably seem pretty darn boring.  This is the last time I am doing this workout for the 2nd phase, next week is my recovery week.  However, this is not the last time I will be doing this workout in phase 3 I will be doing this workout again in the last two weeks of my 3rd p90x phase.  The third phase is already looking pretty crazy.  I still cannot do one handed push ups, maybe by the time I get to the second half of the 3rd phase I will be able to pump a couple out.  As I start going into the end of the 2nd phase, I am pleased by the results that have taken place.  Somebody asked me the other day, what I am going to do after I am done with P90x, they asked “are you going to just swear off working out for  awhile?”  I thought about it for a little bit and told them “no,”  I am going to continue to workout, mainly because I saw a video of me from a few years back, and I was around 240 pounds.  I thought to myself, I never want to be like that again.  So if anything P90x has done for me so far, even if it was not giving me the desired results I wanted, it still got me in a habit of working out, of wanting to be health and maintaining a routine to stay in shape and continue to better my life.  I also did P90x Plyometrics on Tuesday.  This is the one workouts that gets to me every time, I think it has to do with a lunge sequence that feels like it goes on forever.  It is still one of the best workouts in the Tony Horton P90x Program.

P90x: Day 50, 51 – Recovery Week

So I went Snowboarding on Sunday and as you can imagine I was pretty sore , but it is the best time to be sore, because I am at the end of my second p90x phase, and that means recovery week. Even though the recovery week really it not that much easier.  I was supposed to do P90x Yoga but since I was so sore I felt that P90x X Stretch would do just fine.  Now I know I am going to get all the Yoga fanatics on my butt about how P90x X stretch is not as good as P90x Yoga, which is true.  Yoga is an amazing workout and stretches you like crazy, but X stretch has a lot of Yoga moves in it and it still challenges me.  So back off Yoga people!!  So I did P90x X Stretch on Monday, and I did P90x Core Synergistics on Tuesday.  I really do like the Core Synergistics workout, there are some crazy wicked cool exercises on that routine and it really pushes you to the Core!! (oooh…like how I did that, I used the word “core” because it is a “core workout”…I apologize for that).  But your core muscles really do get a great workout and your heart rate gets a great workout too.  On Wednesday, I will be doing some Karate stuff with P90x Kenpo X.

P90x: Rest and Kenpo X

So on January 2nd, I made the decision to take a my rest day. Now I know what you are thinking, “Steve you are crazy! Taking a break on a Friday! FOOL!”(I really don’t believe you actually care that much) But before you call me a fool, let me tell you the reason why I am switching my P90x workout routine around a little bit.  I am going snowboarding on Sunday.  The workout that I would be doing is the P90x Legs and Back routine, so I thought to myself I am going to be working out me legs and back all day on Sunday, which is supposed to be my rest day.  So I switched it.  I kind of thought it was genius idea, it gives me variety and I will still be getting an incredible workout for 5 hours. So there it is that is why I did my rest day on Friday.  I still did my P90x Kenpo X workout on Saturday.  I kicked and punched away, and it is better to be kicking and punching then kicking and screaming.  I am not exactly sure what I mean by that but it just sound right.  The P90x workouts have been going really well, I am starting to see more definition in my upper abs and rib cage area, and that is really exciting.  I need to continue building lean muscle mass so I can burn this excess fat away.  That new Chalean Extreme workout is supposed to build lean muscle mass too, I wonder how it compares to P90x?  I might have to check it out. P90x: Day 48, 49 – Kenpo x and Rest

So I did P90x Kenpo X today, I felt like I just did this one because I have been doubling up on some, and Kenpo was one of the workouts that I made up.  But I did the usual today punching and kicking my butt away.  I do like the Kenpo X workout even though it is not the hardest workout, but there is a move that I really like doing, its the one where you act like you are grabbing the shoulders of another person and you pull them down to your knee.  You are pretty much putting a knee to their face, sounds morbid, but I really like that move.  Which reminds me, P90x Kenpo X is also great way to release some frustration, if you are pissed off at someone for any reason, maybe your boss, a person who cut you off or maybe you got rejected by someone you liked.  Just go ahead and imagine you are punching them in the face, or kicking them in the lower half of their body, it feels great and you get a better work out.  It’s just therapy and it is better to fake it than actually do it, because you might get fired or thrown in jail.  Just remember to not fully extend your arms and legs because you got to protect your joints and the last thing you want to do is injure yourself because you were fake hitting a person.  Alright I am also going to write about the day of rest, I probably should have caught up on some workouts today but I took the day of rest instead.  So tomorrow I will continue on with my P90x Review.

P90x: Snowboarding!!

So I live in one of the most incredible places in the the whole United States,  Seattle, Washington!  I do live near Seattle, and you are probably thinking, “why would you want to live there? It rains all the time.”  My answer to you is…it does rain a lot, but do you know that it rains more in Miami, Florida and New Orleans than it does in Seattle.  In fact, Seattle is not even ranked in the top 30 cities.  But this is the reason I think Seattle, Washington is so cool.  If you want to go to the coast, you are only a couple hours away, if you want to go on a hike there are foothills everywhere, if you want to go snowboarding it is only an hour away at tops.  That is why Washington is awesome, oh and if you want to get away from the rain for a little bit, you can go to eastern Washington and bathe in the sun.  So I went Snowboarding to substitute the P90x Legs and Back routine.  I had so much fun, I just got a new board, bindings, boots and apparel.  So it was absolutely exciting.  I also got a great workout with my legs and back for five hours.  So I do not feel like I missed out on any p90x workout.  I am going to be really sore though, I took some pretty big tumbles, but it was worth it.

P90x: Day 47 – Legs and Back after Christmas

So I did the P90x Legs and Back routine and it did not go so well.  I am still sick from the day before, I think I ate something bad, because I almost threw up in the middle of the workout.  I started sweating a lot, which is normal, but usually my stomach is not hurting at the same time.  So for the second day in a row I stopped the routine early.  I still feel like I made it through enough of the workout to feel like I accomplished something so it counts.  This is not exactly how I wanted to start of the second half of the P90x routine but I am sure that I will be able to recover from these last couple workouts and really go after it in the next month and a half.  I also just realized that the day the P90x program ends for me is on my birthday, so I want to make sure that I get caught up with all the workouts that I have missed because of the holidays, so I have something to celebrate on my birthday when it comes around on FEB 1st. Tomorrow I do P90x Kenpo X.  I also just got my own workout of Chalean Extreme, I am not sure if I am going to do it yet, but I have it and it looks pretty intense.

P90x: Day 46 – Yoga on Christmas

So I haven’t posted in awhile, I still have been doing my P90x workouts but my computer crashed, so I have not been able to post my workouts or progress. You probably thought I got half way through the p90x workout and quit, no way! I am not losing this bet!! So  I finally got my computer fixed and now I am going to start writing where I left off and try to remember how the well the workouts went.  On Christmas I spent most the day with my family, it was a lot of fun, we woke up opened presents.  Later that night I got to do the P90x Yoga routine, it was kinda of lame having to do a workout on Christmas, but I already missed a couple days this month so I did not want to miss anymore.  So I pressed on and do the Yoga workout, unfortunatley I ate a little to much and had popcorn when I went to a movie theater with my family, so I was not feeling the greatest.  I had a huge stomach ache so I ended the workout a little early, but I did most of it.  So in my book it counts as a successful day.  Tomorrow I have P90x Legs and back.

P90x: Day 45 – Half Way Through!

It has finally come, I am at the half way mark in my P90x exercise routine and I am so excited to be here.  It is like I have reached the top of the mountain and now the rest is down hill…but unfortunately I know that I am only half way up the mountain and the top is when I get to 90 days.  I am seriously glad this day has finally come, I know this might not seem like a big deal to anybody reading this, but this is really a big deal for me.  The first time I tried the P90x system, I only made it two weeks before I gave up.  I decided that I need to be in better shape before I do it for real, so I gave myself a year.  In that year I lost 40 pounds and now I am half way done with the program that kicked my ass a year ago.  So I am extremely happy.  Today I did P90x Back and Biceps and Kenpo X.  I had to make up for some missed workouts so I did two of them.  The workouts went really well, I still love the P90x Back and Biceps routine, it is short and sweet but it really works out your biceps.  The P90x Kenpo X routine also went well, although it is not my favorite it still brings variety to the group so I enjoy doing it.  Today is Christmas Eve, and I am going to spend the rest of the day with my family. Feliz Navidad!!

P90x: Day 44 – Jump Around!!

P90x Plyometrics!!  I have been doing this workout ever since the beginning of the P90x workout routine and it still is very challenging.  This P90x plyometric workout just does not seem to get easier.  It does feel good after you are finished though, you feel like you legs and your lungs were just put through the ringer but they also feel pretty relaxed when you sit down and just rest afterwards.  It is very important to have water and a towel for this workout because you will sweat like crazy if you are doing it right, if you are going deep in all the lunges and squats and doing all the jumps than there is no way you should not be feeling this workout.  But I tomorrow is a big day, tomorrow marks the half way point and it also is Christmas Eve.  Now I was planning on skipping the workout on Christmas Eve and Christmas, but i decided to continue on with the workout, because I have already missed 5 days, so I am actually going to do double workouts.  I will be doing P90x Back and Biceps and another make up workout later on, so hopefully it goes well and I can pull it off.  Alright well, Merry Christmas!!

P90x: Day 43 – Working my Arms and Chest

I got up today, looked outside and saw the same thing I have been seeing for the last week and that is snow.  It is snowing like crazy, it looks like I will not be going anywhere for a little bit.  So that means I can do my P90x workouts and catch up on the ones I missed.  So today I did P90x Chest, Shoulders and Triceps, and this workout kicks my but every week, there are just tons of push ups and triceps workouts.   The great thing about this workout is that you pretty much have to push yourself from the beginning all the way to the end.  The workouts just make you work hard.  This p90x workout feels great because you know that it is working and  you feel like you can move mountains the day after you do it, and by that I just mean you feel super strong.  Today I got to check off another day on my P90x Calendar, as I approach the half way mark.  The P90x workout has been weird, the first couple weeks feel like they go slow, and then you are done with the first month and you feel like it is going fast, and now that I am almost half way done, it feels like I have already done it for 90 days.  So we will see how the rest of the 45 days go.  I do know one thing about the next 45 days, it will be challenging.  Since I am locked up in my house, I will be doing an extra workout today,  I will be doing P90x Kenpo X to make up for some missed workouts.
