P90x: Day 71 – Great Chest Workout

So today I kicked it off with P90x Chest, Shoulders and Triceps routine and it really is a great workout.  There is not many workouts that get me tired from the beginning, but this one does.  Every time I do this P90x workout, from the first exercise which is called something like slow motion 3 in one push ups, I use up all my energy, every time.  I do not know what it is about slow motion push ups, but after I am done with them I feel so empty in my tank.  Fast push ups are fine, but ask me to do them slowly is a whole other thing and to make it even harder, use the P90x push up stands.  But you can’t quit after the first workout so you got to keep on going, and you continue to push yourself through, giving it your all so you make sure that you do not cheat yourself in anyway.  Once you get this far the P90x workouts you got to make sure the you work even harder to get the results you want.  So when Tony Horton says maximum reps, you got to make sure that you go tell you can do anymore with good form.  I will also be going to the gym tonight to get some running in getting the blood flowing through the veins and my heart rate up.

P90x: Day 70 – Resting and Football

So today I woke up and went to church, was there for a few hours and then after that I went to my friends house to watch football.  Where I was highly dissapointed because the Eagles let me down, it was a good game, but I really cannot stand the Cardinals, I like Kurt Warner, but I do not like the Cardinals.  And then to add to the suckiness the Steelers beat the Ravens.  So my day started off good at church but then rapidly got really bad after the games.  I guess the positive is that I did win three games of pool against my buddies, I was nailing the bank shots.  I offically have only three weeks left in my p90x workouts and I will be all caught up with the workouts that I missed so i will be ending with in the 90 day period without any extra days.  So if day is the 18th, I will be finished on the 11th of Feburary.  A week before I leave to go to Honduras for two weeks, yes you heard me right I am going to Honduras, it should be an incredible trip I am really excited for it.

P90x: Day 69 – Cardio Workout

So I went back to the gym today instead of doing P90x Kenpo X, I have said this before and I will say it again, P90x Kenpo X just does not challenge me enough conditionally wise.  I like to get my heart rate up and pumping and kicking and punching just does not do it for me anymore, so I run forever and I become active in other things, like playing racket ball or going out and playing basketball with my friends.  But this is the end of my week, one of the last days before I start up the next week in which my routine switches up and instead of doing P90x Chest and Back on Mondays, I will do P90x Chest, Shoulders and Triceps.  But before I do that workout, I must rest on Sunday and not do much to workout my body and just take a break.  I wen at it really hard this week.  I have been running every other day and then back to back on Friday and Saturday.  So doing the P90x routine and then cardio on top of that, I feel that my body needs a break.  And hope fully tomorrow the Eagles beat the Cardinals, and the Ravens beat the Steelers.  The Superbowl is on my birthday, so it better be a good one.

P90x: Day 68 – Legs at gym

Today I decided to switch it up a little bit, so I went to the gym today to do my p90x legs and back workout, I know it might sound a little lame that I am going to the gym more when I am supposed to be doing the P90x workout, but here is the way I look at it.  I feel that it is okay to switch some once in awhile, i do not switch any of the upper body workouts or the stretching workouts, most just cardio workouts.  Plus all my friends go there, so it is a lot of fun, and for the most part I am still doing all my P90x workouts, I am just doubling up, working out in the morning with P90x and then going to the gym and running three miles in the evenings, I really wanted to push myself this month.  For my workout I need 3 .25 miles of running and then I did over a mile on the stair climber and then I did 10 minutes on the row machine.  I wanted to start doing the stair stepper machine again, so I get ready for hiking, running is good for my heart, but stepping is good for my hiking conditioning.  I also wanted to start doing the row machine more, because I heard that it is a great workout.  So I got an incredible workout, and I owe it all to P90x, because I feel that I am in the best shape that i have ever been in, and it is because I have been doing these p90x workouts everyday.

P90x: Day 67 – Stretch Armstrong

When I was a kid there was a toy called Stretch Armstrong.  Mr. Stretch Armstrong was able to do tons of things, all because he was able to stretch like crazy.  Mr. Stretch Armstrong could pretty much do anything you asked him to do, if you asked him to wrap his arms around a pole 20 times, he could do it.  If you asked him to hold onto the refrigerator door and also hold onto the microwave door which is five feet away, he could do it.  Now I am not saying that I am as flexible as Stretch Armstrong, but I do feel the more I do P90x X stretch the more flexible I get.  At first my right knee would get sore in some of the stretches because of the injuries I have had, but now I do not feel any discomfort in my knee, I know I am going to have to continue to stretch when this P90x experience is over, but that is one of the benefits of P90x, you get in a habit of working out.  And getting in a habit is what we should all be in no matter what kind of workout we are doing, whether it is at the gym, with P90x or Chalean Extreme.

P90x: Day 66 – Sculpting my arms

So this will be the last time I will do the P90x Shoulder and Arms workout.  It has been good to me, and the definition I have in my arms now is a lot because of this workout.  Before this I never usually worked on my triceps, but know I see the importance of working out not just the biceps but the triceps too.  If you want big arms workout the triceps.  It has also helped me a lot with my shoulders.  When I worked out at the gym I injured my shoulders, probably because I did not properly stretch and warm up before hand.  But with this workout my shoulders feel stronger and the injury I had now feels like it is getting better each day,  so in a way it was kind of like physical therapy for me.  I have learned some great workouts from this routine.  Like the Static Arm Curls, Chair dips, and the Tri-Side Rise, those are just a few that I can always do where ever I am.  It is also fun to see the progress you make when from when you start off to where you end up, before I was using the red band for a lot of these workouts, but now I am using the green band for almost everyone of them, and when you the green band feels to easy you can always step for on the band to get more tension.  This has been one of my favorite workouts in the P90x Fitness Program.

P90x: Day 65 – Jumping with Plyo

I do not know if it is because I have started going to the gym at nights to do cardio, but I really had to push myself through this p90x plyometric workout today.  From the first exercise I could feel the burn in my legs, and it is probably because I ran 4 miles the night before.  But some friends came over and I was already in my workout so I just could not stop, and they know about the bet.  So I had to make sure I did not look like a wuss in front of them, so I continued to push myself through, and I swear someone raised the heat up in the house because I was sweating like crazy.  I have never sweated that much yet from a P90x workout,  it was pretty disgusting, but I sweat gold so it’s not to bad.  I really hope this workout helps me with my performance in sports, I know there are other thing I need to do and this is a workout a lot of athletes do, so I hope I can jump higher and run faster.  And if anyone thinks P90x sucks, you must be in really good shape, because this program really has challenged me beyond what I am used to.

P90x: Day 64 – Exploding my Chest

I cannot believe that this was the last time I will be doing this workout.  This was the first workout I did in my P90x experience so it feels kind of sad to me that it is now over.  I mean this workout really kicks butt.  I have never done a workout that involves so many push ups and pulls up, plus some other workouts with the p90x resistance bands.  I remember the first time I did this workout I felt like half way through I was going to die, but now I am able to push myself through the whole workout and end strong in the second half.  That was my goal, to be able to do as many reps as possible through the first part of the workout and still be able to go at it with all I had in the second part of the workout.  I also did the P90x Chest and Back routine with the push up stands for most the time.  Those P90x Push up stands really do help, they help you get deeper and they help your wrists.  Even if you have shoulder problems the push up stands are still worth getting because of how much it helps your wrists, you can still go 90 degrees with the stands to help your shoulders.  I also went running four miles tonight at the gym, so that makes up for a P90x kenpo X workout.
