Insanity Workout Review – Recovery week

Today was my second day of the Insanity workout recovery week, it is the same workout as yesterday, and the same workout for the rest of the week. I realized after I posted yesterday that I really did not talk about the workout that much. So I will do so in this post.

So on my 30th day of the Insanity workout I did the Cardio Core and Balance, and even though this is a recovery workout, there are definitely some tough workouts. The warms up are different and not as long, which is a nice change of pace. Usually I am sweating in the first 12 minutes of the warm ups, but there is only about 2and half minutes of warm ups in this workout. The stretching is pretty much the same, but it to is not as long. I kind of wish the stretching was a little longer in the session, with a couple more stretches.

For the workout itself, there are a lot of the same moves, but Shaun T also includes new muscle burning moves. It’s a nice change to the insanity workout, because its a new disc with new workouts. There are a couple balance moves that just absolutely burn like crazy. One exercise has you stand on one leg and lift your other leg from the floor to your chest over and over again, then you hold your knee up and pulse it, then still holding your knee up, you start a controlled kick. Then you do the other side, it works out your hip flexors. It is hard to explain, but trust me it burns!!

The last exercise is the hardest! You start in a plie’ position or a deep squat position, then you staighten out your arms like a bird, and pulse your arms, there are like four different exercise you so with your shoulders. This goes on for about 3 minutes. Not only are your legs burning like crazy, but your shoulders feel like they are abou to fall off. You have to keep your arm straight the whole time.

Yesterday I did great with my nutrition plan, I also went to the gym last night and did some upper body workouts. Bench press, shoulder press, triceps dips, and shoulder shrugs. I also did some ab routines, and ran for 2 miles. I hope to do this about 2 times a week to see if I can speed up msults even more.

Day 29 – Insanity workout review – Recover

So I already told you about my terrible weekend with the Insanity workout and my nutrition plan. Today I am getting back into the swing of things. Luckily for me this whole week for my Insanity workout is a recovery week. The first month is officially done, and now I am going to experience the hard stuff. If I thought the Insanity Workout was tough now, it is going to be even for tough in the second month, so I better enjoy this recovery week.

The workout was different today, it was a nice change of pace, because the other workout videos were kind of getting old. That is one of the hardest parts about doing workouts at home, you watch the same DVDs over and over again. But the nice thing about Shaun T Insanity Workout is that Shaun T is not annoying. When I did P90x, there were times when I wanted to knock out Tony Horton, because he was kind of annoying. The P90x workout is incredible though!! Even when I did the first two weeks of Chalean Extreme, I wanted to punch the television screen, because they are so happy when they are working out…not real happiness…but fake happiness…NO ONE is that happy when they are working out, even if they enjoy working out. I am not saying that these workouts do not work, because they do!! I am just saying why I really enjoy the Insanity workout, because the people will let you know that they are getting their ass kicked.

The Cardio Core and Balance workout was pretty good, it was not as tough as the other workouts, but I still sweated and felt the burn. It is a recovery week, so I am going to let my body recover as much as possible before this 2nd month.

This week I will also not be doing the workout on Wednesday, I have been planing on skipping that day the whole time, I will probably just sleep in. I will also be working out at the gym this week and eating healthier.

Insanity Workout Day 26 and 27

So today I was not able to do the insanity workout review, I worked all day trying to raise money for a non profit organization called SportsAide. It is a super cool non profit organization, SportsAide runs sport camps for children who’s parents cannot afford to pay for sport camps, like soccer, baseball, and football. SportsAide also gives equipment to children who cannot afford it. I worked at a rest stop called Indian John off of the I-90 freeway. I was in a booth all day passing out cookies, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

The terrible thing about it was that I did not bring anything to eat, and I was the only one there. So I could not leave to go get food, so I ended up munching on cookies all day. Plus when the other person came to take over they brought some delicious pizza. I was already starving, so I pounded like 5 slices. It was not a good day for my Insanity workout or my nutrition plan.

Saturday was not any better for me, I missed another workout, because I was so tired from working the day before, plus I still did not really eat to healthy. Overall this was the worst weekend I have had with my Insanity workout review.

I have noticed that when I am working out, I tend to eat better. But when I miss a day, I tend to eat worse. When I constantly workout, it gives me a mind frame that wants to eat healthy too.

Sunday I am going to take my rest day, and I will jump back into things on Monday. It is the recovery week so we will see how it goes. How bad can it be?

Insanity Workout Review – Day 25 – Insane Recovery

I was so glad to wake up this morning, knowing that it was going to be a recovery day. I felt like I got a good night sleep, my body felt rested and I felt ready to do my insanity workout!! So I put on my workout apparel and got right into the workout. There is not a lot I am going to talk about today, other than I still find myself struggling to hold some of the squat and lunge positions. I absolutley hate holding positions, it hurts and burns so much. If people could see me grunting and yelling at Shaun T, they would probably think I am crazy.

Tomorrow I will be doing the Pure Cardio and Abs Insanity workout, I will also be doing some ab routines tonight before I go to bed, on my exercise ball. I really enjoy doing ab routines on the exercise ball, I can really feel my core getting a workout, plus it helps my back and my tailbone.

Nutrition: Yesterday I did really well with my diet. I had oatmeal for breakfast, with blueberries. Then I had a turkey sandwich, followed later on by a lean hamburger. I then chewed on some sunflower seeds, and had grapes to crave my sweet tooth.

I will continue my Insanity workout review tomorrow!!

Insanity Workout Review – Day 24

So I have decided that I am going to do more workouts later on in the day, but only once to twice a week. I have been contemplating this option for awhile, and I feel like my body can finally handle it. The Insanity workout is going great! But I also have a gym membership that I want to continue to use. Besides, I have other friends who want to workout, so to please them I am going to add a couple weight lifting and long distance running workouts to compliment my Insanity Workout Interval Training.

So I am 24 days into the Insanity workout, I will have an update pretty soon on this differences in my body. So far I have really enjoyed doing the insanity workout, even on the days when I did want to workout, I have enjoyed the feeling of finishing a workout and how my body feels afterward.

Today, I did the Plyometric Cardio Circuit, which I just call “THE CIRCUIT”, because it is “THE” workout, at least for me it is. This workout continues to challenge me like no other Insanity workout. I do feel like I am getting better, but some days I just feel better than others, I cannot really explain it, maybe it has to do with the food I am eating, or maybe I am still recovering from playing football. It is a great workout though and it will test you and get you in shape.

Nutrition: I kind of had a bad day yesterday in the food section, not that I over did it in anyway, but I just didn’t get to at much. Since I am out of non-fat milk, I had a slice of whole wheat bread with some all natural peanut butter spread on it. Then I had a Green Berry Shakeology, which I actually liked better than the Chocolate Shakeology. Then after that I had nothing! I was super busy and not around places where I could eat healthy food. It was not until 10:00 pm when I finally had a sandwich. Then I kind of gave in with some tortilla chips.

Weight Loss: I am not sure if I have lost anymore weight since I lost the 6 pounds, but I my body feels way better. I feel as though I have gained muscle and that my clothes are starting to fit differently. I wish I would have check my body fat percentage before I began the Insanity workout.

Insanity Workout Review – Day 23

So I am trucking along and busting through the Insanity workout. I am on the 23rd day and only a week away from being half way through the Shaun T Insanity workout. I know this is not the greatest plan to have after I finish the workout, but I am going to reward myself with a giant plate of nachos. And not just any nachos, but some of the best nachos in the world! There are chips(obviously), cheese(another obvious item for nachos), jalapenos, tomatoes, black beans, and cilantro. Plus some sour cream and salsa. The taste is out of this world…cilantro is the key ingredient.

Enough about the Nachos, I am starting to get a craving. Let’s talk about the workout. I am still feeling the effects from playing football last Saturday, but fortunately I am no longer feeling tight in my groin area, which I don’t think I mentioned in my last post. But my groin is feeling better, and my upper body is feeling better too. But my calves and my thighs are still burning from playing football…especially my calves. Once again my legs felt like lead, it was difficult to get them moving and lift them up. The nice thing about it is…is that it forces me to use my abs to lift my legs. The moving push ups are a difficult exercise in this Insanity workout. I usually have no problem doing push ups, but when you are huffing and puffing it makes it extremely difficult to do push ups, especially moving push ups. This Power cardio workout is like the highlight reel for the Insanity workout. A lot of the workouts they show in the promo videos, are actually from this workout. It is pull of powerful jumping moves and push ups moves.

Nutrition: I did pretty darn good with my nutrition plan yesterday. I did have some gummy bears, and some hot wings. But for the most part I stuck to the diet and ate some pretty good food. I had another garlic burger, which was delicious.

Insanity workout review – Days 21, 22

So I think I had another case of the Mondays today, plus my body was so sore from playing football on Saturday. I went ahead and did my Insanity workout today, and I really had to reach deep to get through the Pure Cardio and cardio abs workout. After I was done with the workout my body did feel good. I am noticing a change in my body, I am not necessarily losing to much weight, but my clothes are starting to fit me differently. I feel like I have more muscle and that is why I really haven’t seen a huge weight drop in the last week.

As I stated before, the workout was difficult to get through today, but I am now over a third of the way through my Insanity workout review, which is already a huge accomplishment. Since I was so sore from playing football the other day, I had a hard time getting into the workout, there were ties when my legs felt like lead pipes. My legs were so heavy…When I had to do mountain climbers, I had a hard time lifting my legs up in the workout. But I got through the Pure cardio workout and the Cardio abs workout.

Nutrition: So I really need to get back on track with the Insanity Nutrition Plan, because of the camp food this weekend. So I am going to be extra strict with myself the next couple weeks, so I can maximize my results. This is the last week before I go into the recovery week, then comes the next month, which is the MAX month. But that is not for another two weeks, so I am not going worry about it either.

Insanity Workout Review – Day 20

So on Saturday I was out of town camping with my churches Men’s Retreat, I had a really great time, but unfortunantely I missed an Insanity workout. I missed the Plyometric cardio circuit, also known as the Cardio Circuit if anyone who is doing the workout gets confused. I was going to make up the Insanity workout on Sunday, but I played about 2 hours of football on Sunday with all the guys, so my body was pretty sore.

Because I played football on Saturday, I feel okay about missing my Insanity workout, I still got a great workout running up and down the field. I was aslo very impressed with how I felt playing football. I felt great the whole time we were playing, I felt like I was in the best shape of my life, my feet were quick and I was out running people and out jumping people. There was only one time I actually started breathing hard, but I was moving the whole time. So I give my hat off to the Insanity workout for getting me in shape so that I could have three touchdowns and 3 interceptions, and a few pass blocks. I was all over the place!!…it was super fun.

Since I was having all my meals cooked for me, there was just no way to stick to the nutrition plan this weekend.  I also had some rice crispy treats at the retreat too.  But this week I will get back on the Insanity workout review and nutrition.

Insanity workout review – Day 19

So, I have struggled in the past with being lazy…being lazy, and eating whatever you want when you want, is a easy way to live…at first. Then comes the weight problems, then comes the back problems, then comes the knee problems, then comes the heart disease issues, then comes the diabetes, the list can go on and on. I have decided that I am not going to be that person, that is why I am doing the Insanity Workout. If you have seen my “before picture,” I weighed around 206 pounds, but a year and a half ago I weighed 245 pounds. I have lost around 40 pounds, since I have started to lose weight, I have worked out at the gym, hiking, running, and I have also done p90x. I just wanted to give a little background.

Okay, to the Insanity workout!! Today I did Cardio Power and Resistance, and once again I found myself a little unmotivated. Sometimes I just wake up from the wrong side of the bed. This Insanity workout has definitely been a love/hate relationship, but what workouts aren’t? I did however push myself through the workout, and finished my 19th day of the Insanity workout. It does feel good to finish a workout and the reward is great, my body feels better through out the day, and I am getting better sleep at night.

Nutrition: This week I have been killing it with my Shaun T Insanity workout nutrition plan. Yesterday I had a bowl of healthy Kashi cereal and a banana. I then had an apple and some grapes, then I made a wonder lean hamburger. I found some lean ground meat that was 93% meat and 7% fat, i put some garlic salt on it for taste, and it was incredible!! I used the whole wheat skinny buns and mustard and a little mayo.

Tomorrow, I will take my rest day, since I am going to be out of town camping. Sunday I will try to fit my plyometric cardio circuit in.
